Lady Gaga is known for wearing some precarious shoes, but will she step up to the plate and don these insane things? At first, they seem to simply be some ridiculously high heels. But upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that they totally warp the wearer’s legs. So are these are, statement pieces or actual fashion that people are supposed to wear? Find out more by clicking here!
The shoes, created by artist Leanie van der Vyver, are called “Scary Beautiful.” And while they are technically made to be worn, the accessories were primarily created with a message:
After working in fashion for seven years, and therefore being well aware of the manipulation images in fashion suffer for a perfect result, I still compare myself to them and other current beauty ideals. My frustration with my own inability to overcome these feelings of inadequacy was what brought ‘Scary Beautiful’ into fruition. [The shoes] challenge current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard.
But despite the artistic overtones, van der Vyver did still ship a pair over to a film studio where Lady Gaga was shooting a new video. However, she ”could not get confirmation whether [Gaga] actually used them.” [via Jezebel]

They don’t look too practical. Not to wear, or to store in my closet. No shoe rack/organizer is made for these “shoes.”

They are perfect for keeping your woman at least 10 steps behind you.

…wonder how many thousands of dollars was wasted on those hideous things…

I watch the video clip for these shoes, and it makes the wearer have a weird/creepy gait. Take a look for yourselves.

These are not heels; they are prosthetic hooves.

If I dressed as an insect for Halloween, these might fit the bill.

These shoes disturb me, and I love heels. If you have to have shin support to wear them, they’re probably reallyyyyyyy bad for you.

ridiculous.

Um… what?

IF anyone read the article, these shoes aren’t supposed to be pretty or practical or cheap or for the average consumer. It’s more art than fashion.

Those aren’t heels, they’re ladders. Some trinket to store on a shelf as a piece of art rather than to be used.

Wacky looking shoes – very odd on the eye
) or is that the means of eye-candy..keeps you wondering huh?

I think they were trying to get at the point that they are manipulating an entire leg, (inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard) like fashion tends to do, which ends up making him feel inadequate. Fashion makes him feel inadequate.
Scary beautiful. Things they have to do just to make it into the fashion industry. Scary.
These shoes are made for nothing but art.
