Blake Lively is a hot commodity in Hollywood right now. From being the face of Chanel to appearing on magazine covers everywhere, she’s one starlet that the fashion world loves. Lively recently got married in a secret ceremony to Ryan Reynolds, and since the event she’s been notably absent on the red carpet…until last night, when she stepped out in the above satin gown. So was it a great choice to make her first post-wedding appearance in, or should she have gone with something else?
I like the dress in theory, but the details throw me off. Satin isn’t a good material for a non-solid dress, and here it distracts from the other aspects of the gown, like the pink panels. The one thing it doesn’t distract from, however, is that gaudy rhinestone detail on the back. It’s so prom dress-y, and not in a good way. Sorry, Blake; this could have been a hit, but as is it’s a miss!
Hit or miss, Lovelies?

I wasn’t sure until I saw the back. If the back were plain it would have been lukewarm. This dress is a hit.

From what I can see of it, it’s a hit. She’s so gorgeous <3

love the girl, hate the dress. That weird bumpy thing down the back, the awkward bust line and mid piece. And why is her hands in her pocket when she’s on the red carpet? Also unforgivably, why is her dress so wrinkly? I took design for a few years and i know satin isn’t the best with wrinkles but come on now.

She’s just lucky that she’s hot

Hardly anyone looks good in satin no matter how well it’s designed. It wrinkles if you look at it, doesn’t hang right unless it has the PERFECT underlying support designed for it, it’s just nearly impossible to look good in more than five minutes after it’s put on.
