Taylor Swift isn’t exactly known for being…adventurous with her music. While she is a rather talented singer/songwriter, most of her tunes tend to revolve around heartbreak, being in love or both. But now Taylor has branched out in a very unusual way: by splashing some dubstep into her newest single. So can the queen of sugar pop pull it off? Listen to “I Knew You Were Trouble” and let us know!
I like a number of Swift’s songs, but her recent stuff just hasn’t been catchy for me, this included. In fact, I think the dubstep is the most interesting part of this song. I like you, TayTay, but I hope your material starts to pick up again soon! [via Gawker]
What do you think of this song?

I don’t think that this was a very good idea…

I like it. And I’m not normally a Taylor Swift fan, nor a Dubstep fan. Here’s my thing: I think it’s OK for artists to try out new stuff. *gasp* I mean, if all you ate for dinner every night was steak, even the most perfect steak in all the world, after enough of it, you’d want something else.
It’s their art, and they have the right to change it up and frankly, she’s still young. She may not be the same person she was when she started out, I venture to say she probably isn’t. That’s life. It should happen.
So I think good for her for having the balls to step outside of the definition of “Taylor Swift” and the kind of music she is “supposed” to do. She’s allowed artistic exploration. It’s her art to make.
