I’m so excited for this upcoming cold weather that I’ve already busted out my favorite winter fabric: flannel! It’s so warm, cozy and just perfect. Truth is, I’ve been rocking the flannel shirts for awhile now… and after seeing all of the cute new flannel shirts in for fall, I’m proud to continue to channel my inner Garth Algar

I’ve been stealing my boyfriend’s flannel shirts for a little over two years now, so truthfully, when the weather starts to cool down, I look at his closet as an extension of mine. My favorite ways to wear flannel are either over a delicate tank top (like a jacket), buttoned up with jeggings (like a tunic) or even over a basic plain dress (if it’s a longer dress and a larger shirt, I’ll tie the ends). If I feel that I look particularly lumberjackish, I’ll balance out the outfit with something a bit more feminine, like a simple long necklace, a top bun, lip stain or some ankle boot wedges. A pretty nude manicure doesn’t hurt, either. :)

Another thing I love about flannel shirts is that they’re not only very versatile (and super comfy), but they’re also pretty easy to find and relatively inexpensive. I see tons of flannel at Forever 21, vintage shops, Target, Urban Outfitters… and it’s usually relatively cheap, considering that I will wear most of them year-after-year. Normally I would try to avoid paying around $50-70 for a shirt, but considering that I will probably wear it for many seasons to come, it turns a splurge into more of an investment, right?

Do you rock the flannel shirts every fall/winter? How do you wear flannel?
