Celebs like Rihanna and Lourdes Leon have tried it, there are tumblrs dedicated to girls that have it, and now I’m thinking about trying it too: the side shave. Since fall is here, change is in the air and I’m just dying to try a new look.
There are many variations of the side shave and I love that it can be as subtle or as bold as you’d like. Since I stopped dying my hair and am in the process of growing it out, I wanted to try something slightly edgy that doesn’t take away too much length (like Rihanna’s look below.) The side shave seems to be the perfect solution!
Although this hairstyle has been popular for quite some time now, it continues to make appearances on celebrities, streets, and fashion blogs everywhere. Some say that this trend is played out but others think it’s becoming a classic look. I think it looks fab on the right person but I’m not sure if I’m going to take the plunge. So of coarse, before diving straight in, I had to ask your lovely opinions:
Is the side shave hot or not? Is this trend played out or still hip?

I think it’s super cute on some people. I think like most hair styles it doesn’t suit or flatter everyone but I do like that hair style on some people!

For Coachella a few years back, I decided to chop all my hair off and shave one of the sides (like so). I’d just been through a breakup + the hot desert sun was going to suuuck with my thick hair if I kept it long, so this seemed like a good option. About two months later, I sort of hated it and — like most short cuts — it was annoying to grow out. But I firmly believe everybody should try it out if they have even an inkling of curiosity; I definitely experimented more with hair products, shapes and different makeup because of it.
I say go for it, girl!

@samescobar - Wow! It looked amazing on you!

Hot
I shaved half my hair off last year and started to let it grow out again in May. It’s starting to grow back but I’m so tempted to shave it off again!
guest
@samescobar - I love it!

I don’t like it. But hey, if people do it, it’s not my hair.

@Kim - I’m growing mine out now. I have the entire side shaved. it looks kind of cool growing out. And my hair is getting long enough so I can flip it over to cover the shaven part. But this week I might be shaving it again hehe.

I don’t care for it at all! Plus I think it would be kind of hard to grow out.

The side shave is not for me. As for others, more power to them!

I think the side shave looks stupid, but it is just one opinion, go for it if you like.
guest
I like the look. I am too old to wear it.

If you wear your hair like Rihanna, go for it. If you put it back like the girl above her…it looks like mange to me, or just some form of weird hair loss.

I would do something else if I were you. I always felt that doing popular trends to look cool makes one look uncool. So make up a new trend that is RAD I say! Otherwise, one word: sheep.

Ah.. Cassie..

@Rebekka Wilkinson@facebook - I thought an undercut had to go all the way back to the neck but you may be right!

I think it looks awful, but I think it’s because I know someone who has it done and it just doesn’t suit her, but eh.

Uuuuggghhhhh sooooooo not…. always makes me think of Rufio from Hook.

I really like it on some girls, but only one side, and only if they have thick hair to begin with. If I did a side shave I would have a pony tail with a diameter smaller than 1/2 inch because I have super fine and thin hair. I think girls with long, thick hair can pull it off if they are edgy enough though. And I really like it when paired with dreads

Not. Looks like a cathedral that had bombs dropped on it.

I thik that fallowing a trend just because it’s trendy is sad. But if you happen to like a trend and want to do it but don’t just to avoid looking like a trend fallower is stupid. Do what you really like and who cares what others think as long as you’re happy?
guest
Absolutely not. No way that is cute on anyone. Imagine having to fix that when its “not in trend”
guest
I want to do this so bad. My friend did the underneath shave it looks good on her.
guest
T-Boz from TLC did this hairstyle in the 90′s. these “trendy” people are about 2 decades overdue.
guest
I think it’s really cute! I love when girls have this then curl their hair over to one side!
guest
Not.

I’m anti the skrillex haircut

I gotta go with “not”… just because brushing a woman’s hair out of her eyes and back behind her ears is a good thing, and you don’t kill good things.

I LOVE gilrs with crazy hair, but this is ugly as hell. I don’t care who it’s on. It’s ugly.
guest
Honestly, personal opinion… I don’t like it, not sexy to me.
guest
I don’t care for this hair style very much. To each their own, but not for me.

This is going to sound bad, but I think it only looks good on darker skinned girls. White girls that have it just look like too butch. Just IMO.
