Fun fact! The documentary Hell House (on Netflix Instant!) was filmed in my hometown of Cedar Hill, TX. Heard of this Hell House? Well this is NOT the type of haunted house to go to. Instead of getting the fear of an angry god drilled into your soul, visit a haunted house that actually scares you for the fun of it. This preferred type of haunted house results in pictures like these, taken last year in the Nightmares Fear Factory in Niagara Falls, Canada. Make the right choice! Thousands of haunted houses will be opening next month — are you ready to walk into those macabre mazes of doom?

This Canadian haunted house’s brilliant move to photograph visitors during the its most terrifying moment made international headlines last year. Courage was no match for the haunted house, as a teeny, tiny amount of patrons managed to resist bending to the house’s shock-inducing will. Friends clutching onto friends is the best – my group of friends usually hold hands throughout the maze. Whenever I go to a haunted house, I’d like to think I’m brave and made of steel, so I lead the pack into the pitch black unknown. Of course, I am going less than one MPH and scream my throat hoarse by the end.

Do you still go to haunted houses? Six Flags Fright Fest? SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream?! They paralyzed me with fear when I was a wee, innocent child, but then I grew and toughened up and they weren’t so horrifying anymore. Now it’s kind of an amazing excuse to dig your nails into your best frenemy hang out with your friends!
