“A real man would run a mile in women’s shoes” was the slogan the was splashed across flyers to recruit men for a unique race on Thursday in Grand Junction, Colorado. All that was required of the participating men was for them to run a mile…in women’s high heels.
Held for the third year in a row, the race raises money for a local shelter provides help for victims of domestic abuse called Latimer House. The race consisted of 60 men split into teams of five. Each team represented local businesses and were given the option of what heels they wanted to race to the finish line in.
With friends and family cheering them on from the sidelines, the event was full of laughter and enthusiasm. Some men even chose to wear wigs and women’s clothing to complete the outfit. The teams raised a total of almost $10,000 with ACE Hardware raising the most at $3,800.
