I loved Exit Through the Gift Shop and acquired like 12 posters from it at the Arclight, all of which have been up on my past apartments' walls. I love Banksy, I love Hanksy, I follow a bunch of blogs with graffiti, stencils, stickers and many other types of street art, so I think it's one of the most fascinating forms of art that artists can use. So when I heard that right now, you can buy decals of Banksy's art for $25 on Living Social, I was pretty excited!

Indeed! They're 75% off the normal price set by Zanzino, the producer of the decals, for the next four days on LS. It sounded almost too good to be true when I first saw the deal.

But then I started thinking a little more about it. For some reason, I was a little irked by the way it didn't say anything about being "Copyright _____ 2012" or anything of that nature. It also didn't sound that much like a "Banksy" thing to do. And when you go to Banky's website, there's no link to Zanzino. In fact, his website seems to frown upon any monetary benefit of products with his art on them:

You're welcome to download whatever you wish from this site for personal use. However, making your own art or merchandise and passing it off as ‘official’ or authentic Banksy artwork is bad and very wrong.

As Blouin Art Info points out, there may be some legal loopholes that the company is going through. Regardless, this is has to be either quite wrong or officially given permission. I hope to find out soon that it's the latter; I'd actually like one of these for my own apartment (I'm a sucker for things that don't involve too much work with decorating as I'm artistically inept)!

Check out the gallery of available designs and a few of the Banksy designs from his website that he gives permission to the public for personal use!

Would you buy one of these, Lovelies?
