Cue the “Criminal” jokes! Fiona Apple was arrested yesterday in Sierra Blanca, Texas at a border stop. Apple is on an extended leg of her North American tour in support of her amazing new album “The Idler Wheel,” and she’s scheduled to play Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater tonight. Apple was arrested for possession of hash and weed.

The singer-songwriter was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where stars like Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg have also been arrested for drugs in the past. When her bus was stopped for inspection, cops found hash and a small amount of weed. The 35-year-old singer was arrested for possession and is currently being held at Hudspeth County Jail.

Nothing really. She did something illegal thus she is arrested. No biggie. However, that picture is awful. No fair skinned dark haired Fiona but a crackhead looking one. The magic of reality photos!

Does she not know she can get that delivered to her hotel? She did something illegal. I am not sure why she would try to cross the border with drugs. I am also not sure why she would drive around the highway with drugs. I guess she thought she was above the law.

It’s just pot. I’ve driven in my friend’s car with pot right next to us – we didn’t think we were exempt from any laws, we just didn’t care. But then again people don’t get stopped here unless they look like they are doing something illegal/suspicious so..

@Erika_Steele@xanga - To say she thinks she’s above the law.. doesn’t every person who breaks the law technically consider themselves above it? It’s just some weed.. while it was a little dumb to cross the border with it, sometimes people just don’t think. The biggest human flaw is believing that something can’t & won’t happen to us.

I don’t think just owning it is a huge scandalous crime. It doesn’t even say anything about how often she uses it, and while I think these drugs are super-unhealthy and I wouldn’t touch them, and they do have negative outcomes for your brain too, I don’t think that all ‘potheads’ are so much ‘worse’ than non-weed-smokers. If she had been driving under the influence it would have been a different story. Unlike Amanda and especially Lindsay she didn’t bring others in danger.
However that’s what happens when you try something illegal, she just gets treated like everyone else, and it’s not really surprising.

Albeit technically illegal, arresting someone over a “small amount” of weed and hash is a complete waste of tax dollars. States like my own have put weed way down the list of what’s important, and if you have less than an ounce, they just take it and tell you go home. Weed isn’t a big deal. Cops have more time to focus on important things and tax dollars go more towards real criminals.
