Wuthering Heights, the acclaimed Emily Brontë tale of romance and conflict, has at least a dozen film adaptations. They could make all the reincarnations they’d like and I’d still be first in line for the heartbreaking romance to captivate me wholly once more. The story of Catherine and Heathcliff is iconic and timeless, and this new version of Wuthering Heights may be the most visually exquisite and poignant of all. The trailer is utterly gorgeous, capturing the essence and of the moors and the brooding intensity between the tragic couple. Watch the trailer and find out the film’s release date after the jump!
At the end of my first viewing, I was inclined to replay it again… 5 more times. The tension is palpable and the countryside is alive with the passion that Catherine and Heathcliff share. This is the movie adaptation we have all been waiting for since we first imagined the tale in our minds. Reading Emily Brontë’s one and only published classic painted a vivid picture, and now that picture is filmed brilliantly for us to revisit.
This is the first Wuthering Heights adaptation to cast a black actor (James Howson) for the role of Heathcliff. This film will open October 5th in limited release.
Will you see this film? Are you a fan of the Emily Brontë classic?

I’ve always been ridiculously confused by Wuthering Heights. XD
But the trailer looks beautiful, as you said.

I hated this book so much in high school. Catherine was so damned whiny I wanted to slap her. There were too many tears in the preview for me. ”How could you not think about me all this time?” “Catherine, you’ve treated me badly” . I’ll wait for it to be on Netflix so I can go into an estrogen induced psychorage alone.

I never read the book but I saw an adaption starring Lawrence Olivier & Merle Oberon when I was a kid. This look good so I might seen it!

I really liked the book but it was sooooo depressing in the beginning…just in the way people treated each other. Everyone was so needlessly cruel!
