In celebration of Andy Warhol’s 32 Soup Cans piece (1962) turning 50, Campbell’s decided to release a limited edition of their soup cans with labels featuring Warhol’s art. There are “only” 1.2 million of ‘em (which sounds pretty non-”limited edition” to me, but they’re all spread out) sold in select Target stores all over the United States, starting a couple weeks ago.
According to Taipai Times, Liesl Henderson, director of communications for Campbell’s, stated that “this is not something that we do every day. But we’ve maintained a collaborative relationship with the Warhol Foundation over the years, and there’s a fascination, it seems, with all things Warhol.”
