I love the look of leather. I love that it reminds me of fall, that it keeps me warm, and that it effortlessly makes any outfit just a bit edgier. I’m not the only one, either—leather was all over the fall runways (as it is pretty much every year) and it’s cropping up in all sorts of interesting ways: think leather pants, full leather skirts, leather trimming…

The only thing that turns me off of leather is where it comes from. I’ve taken enough food production and animal welfare classes in college to know that leather fabrication is not a pretty (or humane) business.

So let’s raise our glasses to faux leather, the animal-, earth-, and budget-friendly version of the real deal! Fake leather has never looked classier than it does today, and that’s something to toast.
