The Kate Spade 2013 Spring show at New York Fashion Week not only boasted gorgeous clothes, but also some seriously beautiful nails. Deborah Lippmann, high fashion nail artist (in every sense of the word), aimed to coordinate with the fashion impeccably using colorful gingham prints on pointed nails. She also opted for a pure white nail on some models’ fingertips which I think was a great, clean choice.
I love the opaque, matte look that these have without being remotely boring. I’ve never been a huge fan of shimmer or the crackle polish, so I think plaid is a perfect style to try for spring (or perhaps beforehand in some Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas colors!). As for the solid white, I find it to be a welcome and bright change for 2013.

I like the gingham print, but I am not too fond of the shape the nails are trimmed/filed into. Makes me think of my scary blue-eyebrowed “aunties” with their pointy nails visiting my mom on the weekends when I was a kid.

@babybug329@xanga - @samescobar - My nails are shaped similar to the pictures :/ lol… I love the shape because I feel like it helps my hands look longer and daintier. Plus, ever since I was younger, I used to always watch my mom paint her nails and she always had long nails. ^_^

@babybug329@xanga - There would be no reason for me to not like your nails lol. Having longer nails is a lot more high maintenance. It can get annoying sometimes because you catch yourself doing things a little more with caution as opposed to having shorter nails, but I love my nails, just as you love your nails. My only pet peeve about people’s nails is not the length, but if it looks like they don’t keep clean, you know?
