It’s almost time to break out my patterned tights again, and I could not be more excited. I love mixing bold patterned tights with basic tees and dresses for a unique (and usually pretty inexpensive) look. Which is good, because unfortunately for me, tight season is never a particularly long season in Texas.

My typical go-to outfit for Fall is a cardigan, basic dress, bold patterned tights, some flats and a top bun. I also typically like to retire my contacts to get some wear out of my glasses. The weather can be so unbearable in Texas sometimes that I literally cannot wear my glasses; they slide right off my face. Gross, I know.

I used to just opt for the tried-and-true black (sheer or opaque) tights, but decided to have a bit more fun last Fall/Winter. I’ve already purchased some galaxy-print leggings, and I receive tons of compliments on them. The trick is to pair something bright and bold with something a little more basic. I pair the sheer tights and leggings with a patterned statement piece, and vice versa. While I love mixing patterns, I tend to play it safe a little more when it comes to tights and leggings.

Here’s what I’m currently coveting:

1. Sheer Swiss Dot tights, Anthropologie, $18

2. BDG Rose Garden High-Rise leggings, Urban Outfitters, $39
3. Knee-d Your Lovin’ tights, ModCloth, $29.99
4. Got it Fade tights in charcoal, ModCloth, $14.99
5. UO Opaque tights, $12
6. Bow tights, Urban Outfitters, $14 (Currently 2 for $24)

Some of these are a little more than I’d like to pay for tights (especially because I tend to rip them so easily), but the styles and colors can be really easy to find for less. I’ve had some great luck finding some fun (and more inexpensive) tights at Target, Wal-Mart and Forever 21. Last year, I was able to find the sheer polka dot tights at Wal-Mart for around $7! Score!

Where do you find your favorite tights and leggings? Any colors or patterns that you can’t wait to wear?
