My daily beauty routine is pretty…well, nonexistent. I wear the bare minimum amount of makeup (which I usually do in the car) and some days I legitimately forget to brush my hair. But I’m at a point in my life where a lot of change is happening, and my boring regimen is one area that could use some improvement.
As it so happens, this fall’s beauty trends are just begging me to give them a whirl. Here’s what’s got me reconsidering my current routine (or lack thereof).
Dark Lips
These dark wine-colored lips were all over the runways this fall, from Gucci (shown above) to Christian Siriano. This deep hue is completely doable—it’s not as flashy as a red lip and it feels like fall. Plus, it’d only take like 30 seconds to dab some color on in the morning and the look is done. You could go easy on the rest of your make-up too, because it’s already making a pretty big statement. It’s a win for lazy girls like myself!
Messy chignons
Though I’m horrendous at doing my hair, this is the one look I’d be willing to struggle over. Not that it looks too difficult, anyway! Helmut Lang and SUNO both showcased gorgeously undone chignons, and Tory Burch’s models tamed their relaxed updos with cute clips and sophisticated headbands.
Side note: I’ve made it my personal mission to replicate that SUNO look below…if anyone has any pointers for a girl that still doesn’t know how to French braid, PLEASE FILL ME IN.
Color block eye shadow
Roberto Cavalli has me sold on eyeliner, a substance I’ve been too afraid to go near since Prom. But how gorgeous does this model look?! Her eyes are like a fairytale…sigh. I could definitely spruce up my going-out look with some of this gorgeous color-blocking. The palette here is just neutral enough to look like your average smokey eye, but with an unexpected pop of brightness. For a daytime look, I’d go with nude shades with a bit of gold.
Bohemian-inspired locks
A la Rachel Zoe, naturally. This look is particularly well suited for me, because it requires little energy and hardly any hair expertise. A simple middle part, some added texture, a light wave and a lone braid is all it takes. I bet I could even get away without brushing my hair for this look….just kidding. Kind of.
Add a bit of winged liner, and you’re good to go!
Michelle Obama’s blue-grey nails
You’ve heard about this, right? Apparently, salons are stocking up on the color in anticipation of a huge demand. The shade, Artistic Nail Design Soak Off Colour Gloss in “Vogue” to be exact, is an iridescent-y bluish grey. I’m thinking it’ll be a perfect match for Seattle’s sky come late September…
Would you Lovelies try any of these looks? What other beauty trends are you dying to try?

It was my routine as a teenager (but I had a more gothic look, that I had soften now to work -the look but not the mind of course-).
Dark lips and dark make up : nope.
Messy chignons I already do, a bit of bohemian too.
In France, I saw that the new trend is the nordic style : I love it too !

am going shopping for the blue-grey nail polish shade next week. I am sure there will be a run on it at Wal*Mart.
