I moved to Texas about a year ago, and while there’s plenty of stuff I dislike here (as with any place), overall I would say that I’m happy to be a semi-Texan. I enjoy the weather, the wildlife and the abundance of Mexican food to be found in our fair state. However, I’m not quite sure if I like the abundance of ridiculous fried food to be found at the Texas state fair. From bubblegum (above) to jambalaya, somehow serious chefs have found ways to batter the un-fryable. Check out some of the craziest ones here!
OK, I know I said that I wasn’t sure if I liked this abundance of fried food. I WAS LYING. I would happily devour that fried Cadbury egg up there, sorry body. In fact, if I’m being honest, most of this stuff looks delicious. And, yes, I will probably try to make it to the state fair next year, just to get some samples. See even more heart attacks waiting to happen over at the source!
What do you think of these foods? Would you eat any of them?

I’ve only tried fried Oreos, which I made at home and liked. Most of the other things don’t sound that appetizing to me. If there is something fried that is more ordinary, say, chicken, I’d be all over it!

The fried food at the state fair has just been getting crazier since the first time fried Coca Cola was a huge thing. When I used to go as a kid with my family, sausage on a stick was what we looked forward to. I kinda want to go to the fair now.

Yeah, I’m definitely going this year. It’s worth the short trip. My sister said she ate fried guacamole while watching the pig races last year. Texas State Fair – where dreams are made!

I would eat most of those except butter, bubblegum (well, maybe out of curiosity..), and salad. It figures I would avoid the “healthiest” option. Also, fried beer sounds ridiculous but would I try it? TOTALLY. Even if I don’t quite understand it.
I went to the NY State Fair, fortunately held in my city, last week…omg. Everything I ate was fried. I think my arteries would be screaming at me right about now but they’re too full of fried Oreos.

@leslie - Fried guacamole, you say?! Oh goodness, I’m going to have to seek out somebody to make that for me.

Yea, no thanks. I’ve tried most of those things except the bubble gum and margarita. It all tasted gross to me.

I’d eat all of em. Weird? Hell nah. Life’s too short to not try new things ><

The fried Oreos are amazing until after you’ve finished eating them and you realized that you’ve made a huge mistake. So worth it though

my question is how they go about frying these
some look good while others, umm?

Fried salad, otherwise known as a vegetable spring roll

So much ew, seriously. Some things are better left unfried!! Although I have to admit, I kind of want to try the fried pop tarts lol.

Ugh. Why must we fry everything?!

Texas State Fair has some great stuff, then novelty trash for the people who go there to be entertained by that sort of thing. I’ll stick to the quilting and jam…call me old fashioned. I’m performing at the State Fair this year, though.
