I used to watch a lot of TV with closed captioning. I don’t know why, I guess I felt like it was a better use of my time if I was forced to watch because I also had to read. Part of it was that I just really liked how they would describe sounds. Everything is funnier with captions, especially when you watch from your computer and screen shot some of the better and more hilarious ones. Really, I think I liked it so much because I had just gotten used to watching stuff with captions.
I went to a elementary school, middle school and high school where we had a fairly large deaf population of students. Everything we watched had captions. Every assembly, choir performance or play had a signing interpreter. I learned a fair amount of sign language that I have since forgotten, and will probably never learn again; But, I will always love closed captioning (and IP relay…but that’s a different post). Here are some of perfect moments in closed captioning I have found lurkin’ around the internet today. Enjoy!
