Please take a moment to disassociate Instagram from the odd yet normalized abhorrence for hipsterdom and admit that, dammit, we love this app. Instagram is taking another giant leap into digital image domination as it puts the final touches on the prototype for its very own instant camera. A throwback to ye olde days of Polariod instants, the new Socialmatic camera has a ton of new features that blend social media and photography even more. See what this new camera has to offer and when it will be available.
Everything is instant now, digitally. The immediate snapshot sensation that smart phones provide began to render the existence of instant cameras just not instant enough years ago. But not every medium must be absolutely championed for digitization – sure, it’s faster, but diehard fans still cling to the nostalgic mechanisms that dispensed hard-copy photographs to hold onto.
Well Polaroid lovers – rejoice! Instagram’s Socialmatic was born a concept in May and is now turning into reality. With an expected release date in mid-2013, you’ll get the old, tingly excitement that Polaroid left you feeling back in the day. The Socialmatic, a digital instant camera, has some pretty neat features that make it the #1 camera for social media junkies.
-16GB of storage space
-Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
-4:3 touchscreen
-2 lenses
-optical zoom
-LED flash
-internal printer that takes in special paper cartridges
ADR Studio, the company behind the Socialmatic’s design and creation, stresses that amid the anticipation surrounding the camera, they are still not accepting any pre-orders. So if you’re interested in the camera that will produce photos for both the online and physical sharing, be on the lookout at ADR Studio’s website for press releases.
Are you planning on buying the Socialmatic when it debuts next year? Do you like instant cameras still or do you prefer digital images?

Oh man that’s so cool! I would definitely buy one. And just think, on the plus side you can hopefully see what the picture looks like before you print it out
