It may not be the 90s, but rave culture is still alive and well. My previous mental picture of a raver included lots of neon, glow sticks, and bikini tops. Judging by these pictures from New York’s Electric Zoo Festival, my impression wasn’t too far off…but it was also very incomplete. Turns out, there’s a huge plethora of trends to be found in the rave scene. Check some of them out by clicking here!
While some of these outfits may be way out there, some attendees (like the girls above and those in the last gallery photo) nicely demonstrated a union of style and eccentricity. As it turns out, ravers can be pretty darn fashionable, too! Head on over to the source to see even more photos. [via Buzzfeed]
What do you think of raver style? Which of these outfits is your favorite?

When I think of raves, I think about a bunch of girls trying waaaay too hard and everyone being high on E. Not my idea of fun :/

I think ravers try really hard to make bikinis acceptable to wear without a pool or the beach anywhere close by, plus a lot of the looks look really childish with the neon colors and fuzzy accessories. I guess it is not for me.

@babybug329@xanga - They’re not trying to do that. -__-;
When you’re on E, you sweat. A lot. Wearing a bikini top is just being prepared. If I were going to a rave where I’d be not only dancing in large crowds but also tripping on a substance which causes excessive sweating, I’d be there too in a tiny little bikini top. Otherwise you’d probably just take your shirt off anyway and be down to your bra. I’ve done E, once, so I can relate to the desire to get your damn shirt off. You get really hot. But yeah, it isn’t for everyone. Personally, going to a rave is on my bucket list, because I have never been.

And I really quite like the blue striped dress with the Peter Pan collar in the second to last photo. She looks adorable. Also, the neon face paint looks like fun.

I’m a particular fan of the cigarette hanging from the hand of the girl in the second to last picture. Your next post should be on Juggalo fashion…….It’s a bit creepy………These outfits actually seem to really be a statement of the people wearing them. It’s nice when people who really like unicorns can just dress up as one. And who doesn’t want a spiked bra?
