Do you ever see something at the store and just have to have it? I don’t know why I’m asking — of course you have! I’m the type of person who has dreams about whatever shirt or pair of shoes I saw earlier that day. As bad as it is, I latch onto things I see in the store and then build them up in my mind, until suddenly a simple jacket is no longer just a jacket — it’s a jacket with magical properties and it could probably save the world! And then it gets written down on my “list of things to buy.” Talk about first world problems…

But I think I have just the excuse to finally tackle that long list of must-haves: it’s almost fall, and here in Seattle our deplorable month week of sun is dwindling to a close. With that said, here are five pieces (I feel like) I can’t live without.

1. A HUGE sweater

I’m talking tent-sized. Just kidding! But I want something I can wear both to the office and, let’s face it, curled up in bed. I would definitely make room in my closet for this big guy from Nasty Gal.

2. A work-appropriate dress

This one from Madewell is so cute and so versatile. It’d be great at work with dark nylons and wedges, or even around town with some sweater tights and tall boots.

3. Fun loafers

In a city as grey as Seattle, I always like to wear something bright and happy. These Mossimo cheetah-print loafers will jazz up any outfit while keeping my feet nice and comfy.

4. Tall boots

I guess tall boots should go without saying, but surprisingly I don’t have any. I love this uber tall pair from Urban Outfitters, because they’ve got that equestrian-feel that I love. And they’re already distressed looking, so no amount of the PNW’s rain can ruin them! (That’s probably not true…)

5. The best coat ever, in the world!

I’ve got more coats than I can count, but this boucle parka from Topshop is like no other. It’s long, wide and even has a hood. But the best part is the contrasting sleeves and pockets—so cute!

Of course, paying for anything on this long list of my greatest needs is another problem in itself. But a girl can dream, right?

What’s on your want list this fall?
