Summer is over. Seriously – if a certain date is to define the end the summer, it has to be today. We are living out the final moments of August, meaning all the beaches, vacations and romances are now being sealed off in memory, overdrawn bank accounts and sunburn peeling. To salute the end of another fine summer, I’d like to raise my raspberry lemonade to the pinnacle of family summer getaways – Disneyland, the purveyor of embarrassing roller coaster snapshots. Frequent visitors of Splash Mountain finally got past the scary part – the ungodly, horrifying drop – and then took advantage of the awaiting camera to have some fun. Some, as pictured above, made it an annual tradition. See what clever plans and poses went into these gems of vacation memories.

Okay, time to reveal an ugly truth – I have never been to Disneyland. Growing up in Texas, I had a season pass to Six Flags in Arlington for a straight decade. My roller coaster obsession was perfectly sated. But when I here of the Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain, I’d like to eventually experience the drop. Maybe when I’m older and have kids, I’ll take them with me (not me with them, mind you) and make them ride those thrilling, mechanical contraptions whether they like it or not.

Now let’s get this show on the road. Get ready to laugh at the antics these riders somehow manage to pull off before the big drop.

Are you a Disneyland junkie? Do you have any memorable roller coaster pictures?
