Most people were surprised to discover that Carly Rae Jepsen — the singer of “Call Me Maybe,” this summer’s most bubblegum tune — is 26. Now, 26 is far from being old, but “Call Me Maybe” admittedly sounds like a song that would come from a teenage Disney star. And now Jepsen seems to be going along with the “act younger” routine with a schoolgirl dress and sneakers. So is this a cute outfit, or does she need to dress more her age?
Frankly, I don’t really mind when people dress a bit younger than others think they should. If you feel confident in a varsity jacket and cheerleader skirt, go for it! Jepsen could be dressed like an extra in “Baby One More Time” and I wouldn’t care.
The only problem is, I really don’t like this dress! The black band hits at an awkward place, and plaid just isn’t an appealing print for me. At all. (I blame all the years of wearing hideous plaid skirts at Catholic school.) Sorry Carly, I like your song, but not this outfit!
Hit or miss, Lovelies?

ugh this reminds me of my last schools. anyone who has actually been to a catholic/private school would cringe at having to wear those things again
but i agree, i think the idea is cute but it looks so uniformy she can find something way more attractive.

Miss, because I don’t like the outfit rather than me thinking that she should dress in a more mature manner.

I think if the top of the dress/shirt were a little more form fitting, and she changed the shoes, it would be a much cuter outfit

Miss for a variety of reasons:
She’s 26. I’m 26. i would have hoped after 26 years she’d have more self respect than that.
LOOKING 12 and DRESSING 12 are two different things.
The outfit is just ugly. If it was prettier, better cut, different colors and a 12 year old was wearing it . . .it could be a definite maybe.
On a side note: Her music makes me want to pierce my eardrums and permanently go deaf less risk having to even accdentially hear her crap again. She’s a miss, period. Sadly enough, my boyfriend finds her catchy and endearing.

Miss, but not because of her age.
I’m pretty much anti “dress your age” (unless it applies to young children wearing sexually explicit clothes, of course), so I don’t mind 65-year-olds in bikinis or 22-year-olds in “grandma chic” or whatnot. BUT, I think this dress is hideously ugly. It’s got an ugly shape, bulky fabric and seems like it could be sold at Hot Topic.

I’m really not sure what the world is coming to anymore…
10 year olds dresses like 30 year olds and 30 year olds dresses like 10 year olds

Maybe it’s okay that she dressed young considering she’s at a benefit event for young children.

I think it’s clearly an adult dress that is maybe inspired by what school girls wore once upon a time. That doesn’t make it a kid’s dress. It’s not like she wears jeans with pink butterfly patterns and a barbie shirt.
I don’t think the sneakers go well with it and I agree with those who said it’s not very flattering for her shape, but I’ve seen worse.

Who dressed her? Wednesday from the Addams family?

I like it, although I think it would look better with white knee socks.

It’s cute, but definitely shapeless and more fitting for a preteen. So I say miss, because she is 26.

Raise the skirt by 2.54 centimeters and you got my vote ! Φ ≡

Yeah…she could wear whatever the hell she wants, really…but this was a poor choice in the school girl/plaid department.
