My boyfriend’s friend is colorblind. I mean, really colorblind. One of my music professors is also colorblind and we could always tell whenever he wife was out of town because he would show up in the cutest (and most painfully clashing) outfits. It’s always been kind of fascinating to me. I mean think about it: How do you know if what you see is the same as what other people see?
Here are some regular photographs compared to what the very close renditions of what the world looks like those of us that are unable to decipher certain colors:
Lovelies, are you or anyone else you know colorblind? If so, how do colors differ for you?

In the case with the fireworks, it seemed prettier. This is very interesting though. My uncle is a tad colorblind. He can’t see the difference between red and orange. It always gets him on those tests.
Its interesting when colorblind people come into the store. I work in apparel, and I love helping them. Unfortunately, I’m not great at matching colors precises. If its close, its good in my mind, but I know that’s not how everyone sees. I do my best to match it well when they ask for things that match and whatnot.

I’ve always wondered how colorblind people saw the world. This was interesting.

I’ve always been curious about color blindness. I remember studying it in a psychology class I think it was. But ironically they never actually showed us the difference in how color blind people see the world. And I never thought to look it up for myself.

There are actually different types of color blindness, so not everyone who’s color blind sees colors the same. I know a guy who’s color blind – I honestly would’ve had no idea if he didn’t tell me.

My fiance is semi color blind. He mixes green with brown a lot of times and black with brown occasionally. So strange.

I was ‘talking’ to a guy who is colorblind.. His clothes never matched.. His mom asked which color of paint he liked better for the wall. The one that was blue looked green to him, and the one that was actually green looked beige.

@harleyy93@xanga - Yes, my boyfriend’s friend only has trouble with certain colors… but he always wears neon clothes, thinking they’re some other color. He tried to pick out the colors for his band’s t-shirts one time and it was a disaster!

I actually am a little bit color blind. I have malformed something or anothers and I have issues with red/yellow.

My boyfriend is colorblind… wow. I never knew. I try to get him to explain it, but I just get frustrated. I’ll be like, “What color does this look like to you?” and he’ll go, “Green?” and I’m like, “Green?! That’s purple!!” or something like that. I feel bad for him that he doesn’t see it like me, and it really does get annoying… but he can’t help it. I think this is super cool.

My ex-boyfriend is colorblind. He can’t see reds, they look bluish to him. I used to (playfully) mess around with him. We were both into baseball, so I once gave him a hot pink bat. He thought it was turquoise color lol. He didn’t mind, he messed around with me being short.

well, I’m not colorblind, but I struggle with green and yellow sometimes and yellow and orange. It’s yellow that is the culprit.
I’m not sure if it’s my eyes or just the fact that I don’t censor information in the same way.

I have a slight red/orange color blindess. It was annoying as a child because I didn’t know and crayons confused me (orange, red-orange, orange-red crayons looked the same color to me.) It still affects me with makeup as some lipsticks and blushes have an orange tint that I can’t see.

I had a great grandfather who was completely color blind, He only saw in black and white. My mother cannot tell green from blue in bad light, and I have a hard time with red and brown. But if it is bright sunlight we can tell pretty well.

Very interesting. I had a friend at my old job at Chick fil A that couldn’t tell the difference in the coloring of our Blue Cheese and House salad dressings. For those with normal color perception, Blue Cheese is very blue and House is very purple. Absolutely fascinating!

My younger brother is colorblind. My family, friends and I are so used to it growing up that we don’t even think about it sometimes–like the time when my husband, my best friend and I took my brother to go play laser tag. The team colors were green and red–already a bad start. So the whole time he kept accidentally shooting people on our team (we were green). He’s got a great sense of humor about it so the rest of the time was spent laughing about it. I mean, we were wondering who kept friendly firing. I always wondered what the world looked like through his eyes. Seeing the pictures of the fireworks made me realize why he likes the color blue so much–he did say at one point that it’s the color that really pops out the most to him, so he has acquired a great affinity to that particular color. All in all, great post!

My mom’s old fiancé (RIP) could not see the color blue. This was very interesting.

I really thought this post was about race colorblindness. Anywho, my dad is colorblind and he usually has to ask someone what color certain clothing items are. Tis funny. He’s not naturally colorblind though, he fell out of a tree when he was a kid and a stick poked him in the eye OUCH!!
