A lot of people complain about the Disney princesses being bad role models for girls. But what about these ramped-up, superhero versions?
Yes, I know Comic Con was a long time ago. But I still think what these ladies did is so freaking awesome. I mean, I loved watching the movies of the various princesses when I was a little kid (and a lot of us here at Lovelyish still get excited about ladies in Disney movies!). I definitely wanted to be Belle more than once growing up. But even Belle isn’t the best role model for a little girl to have growing up.You can always argue that they’re not “real heroes,” which is partially why I find these new takes on the Princesses so refreshing.
Oh, that’s sweet. She looks like Thor!
Oh and one more thing — they have a really cool Facebook page. You should definitely check it out, as well our own Lovelyish page, of course!

is it wrong that I could see them being a rollerderby team?

@Thatslifekid@xanga - No, it is awesome. They’d make a great rollerdeerby team.

I love cosplay! It is my favorite part of tagging along with my husband and his comic-book loving friends to conventions. The artistry and dedication is amazing! And it makes for some really cool pictures because they’re always more than willing to pose for pics (provided that you ask permission first–and you should always ask). These ladies make being a princess look so fierce!

Mulan didn’t need to be changed since she basically is already a hero

Neat ^-^
Also if it’s for rollerderby, there outfits are perfect.

@bbanmen420@xanga - That is what I thought the moment I saw her picture. She wasn’t a “super” hero, but definitely a hero nonetheless.

@bbanmen420@xanga - it’s not mulan, but snowwhite (look at the apple on her arm)

@Im_Amelia@xanga - Oh… Huh weird, I didn’t notice that. She does look alot like Mulan though. Like her clothing and even her hair is basically the length of Mulans.. Meh..

@Im_Amelia@xanga - I’m glad you said that haha. When I first saw it I thought Mulan, but the colors are definitely Snow White. I didn’t even notice the apple. I was starting to think I was crazy when I was reading the comments about it being Mulan.

I hate when people say the Disney Princesses aren’t good role models for girls. They’re OBVIOUSLY fairy tales, not meant to be taken seriously. I watched all of these movies growing up and never once thought to blame any messed up relationships I had on those movies. Perhaps people should take responsibility for their own flaws instead of blaming children’s movies, which are actually quite a bit more progressive than the fairy tales they’re based on.

@SlackerSociety@xanga - Correction to my previous comment: I finally found where they do have pictures of the Tiana cosplayer. Regardless, they still left out a LOT of the girls. Don’t be ridiculous. Everything’s not a race issue.
@Im_Amelia@xanga - @sunflowersforlove@xanga - If you look at their Facebook page, Snow White has a totally different costume. this is definitely Mulan. Also that’s definitely a dragon (Mushu) not an apple. >.>

@x__RainOnHerParade@xanga - Haha thanks for clearing that up! I was kind of wondering still if it was Mulan because I couldn’t tell if it was an apple or not on her arm.

I don’t like the Jasmine player. Jasmine would never wear Rajah’s hide, he was her friend. Also? Is she wearing a surgical mask for a veil? WTH?
