Disney is known to slap its brand on just about anything, so it wasn’t surprising when they announced a collaboration with Barneys was going to be released this fall. Fashion blogs hadn’t given much note to the future line, and it could have easily flown under almost everyone’s radar…until now. Because the illustrations from the Disney ads are a bit out of the ordinary, in that they feature a rail-thin Minnie, Daisy and Goofy. Check out the images here and let us know what you think!
The collection is based off of both Disney’s electrical parade and the Paris fashion shows. It even has its own storyline and short film, which “centers around Minnie Mouse’s fantasy to be at the Paris shows. There she comes across key Disney characters — Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Daisy Duck, Cruella de Vil, Princess Tiana and Snow White — all decked out in unique designer clothes as they make their way down the runway.” [via WWD]
Do you like this collaboration concept, Lovelies? What about the art for the line? Are these characters too thin?

Seriously? We are going to debate on rather or not abstract drawings are too thin?
ETA: Yea, Daisy is going to send me into a relapse. I am not eating until I look like that.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - Animal cartoon faces… just one more unattainable ideal that the media and fashion are trying to force on us! I’m not a real woman anymore until I get that beak!

Next we’re gonna be complaining that hangers are too thin.

Regardless of “negative body image promotion” or whatever, it’s still off-putting they look like toothpicks, just based on their regular character design. But they are fashion sketches, so I don’t know what I expect.

umm… i kinda wanna be that size so OF COURSE THEY’RE NOT TOO THIN!
draw a stick figure then we’ll talk.
