I remember coming home from school everyday and jumping in front of the television (with much enthusiasm I might add) to watch the Rosie O’Donnell talk show. She was so funny to watch and always had so much fun with her guests on every episode. Rosie also had a way of making the viewer feel like she really was one of your best friends that you hung out with for an hour every weekday.
Naturally, when her show ended, I was devastated and dreaded coming home from school because I knew my afternoon would no longer be filled with that loud voice joking about unthinkable things.
Of course, life went on and I found other shows to fill my time with, but it seemed that Rosie O’Donnell had not only disappeared from prime time television, she had also disappeared from the face of the Earth. She was no longer in magazines or the news until…she came out as a lesbian. I felt so proud that she had the guts to share something so intimate with everyone even when she knew what kind of negative backlash she would inevitably receive.
From then on, Rosie was back!
When I heard about her heart attack last week, I thought, “This woman cannot catch a break!” Thankfully, she is out of the hospital and is doing fine, but the whole ordeal really made me want something, anything, good to happen to her because she deserves that much.
My hopes for her were met this morning when while scrolling through my news headlines I read, “Rosie O’Donnell Is Married! And Has Been For Months!” She and her wife said “I do” in a secret ceremony a few months ago and they seem really happy together.
Congratulations Rosie! You provided me with many laughs and much enjoyment and I wish you and your new wife all the best!
What celebrities have provided happiness to you?

I could have sworn they were married for awhile, but I looked it up and that was to another woman. Well, best of luck to her. Hopefully this one sticks since it sounds like the first marriage was more of a “I’m making a statement for gay rights” marriage.

I don’t really know what it is about her, but I friggen love Rosie. Maybe sub conciously I always loved her because she was fat and not the prettiest woman in the world but she was still famous and it gives me hope for my own future. I remember watching her show every day in the summer, and I don’t even know why. I feel like I wasn’t even old enough to understand half the show… but I guess when you’re a kid you don’t really understand anything.
I was absolutely determined I was going to go see her live, I was going to make a big trip of it and go see Rosie and The Price is Right. And then Rosie was cancelled and I was devestated, and the announcer guy on The Price is Right changed and Bob Barker retired and that all flew out the window.
I have her Christmas albums, and they’re my all time favourite Christmas songs. And she was my favourite part of Harriet the Spy, and she was the psychiatrist in the movie made from my favourite book when I was in high school, America by E.R. Frank.
