My friends all say my Twitter is one of their favorites to read, but recently I have felt uninspired. My timeline, once full to the brim, seems a little dead. It’s been quite a few years since Twitter grew into what it is… is it time for Twitter to die out?
I have been a Twitter believer since the beginning – I’ve had an account since early 2009 but I didn’t really begin using it until I began college and found a lot of my friends using one. I used to think the whole concept was so ridiculous, yet then I became addicted. In less than two years, I have over 11,000 tweets and I am damn proud of it. I’m sure there are much worse but that’s quite excessive.
But over the past few months, I just haven’t felt it be quite the same. Something about Twitter just seems stale to me.
Twitter is seen less and less in the news, and most celebrities don’t seem as into it as they were (well, maybe everyone but Miley Cyrus). This is all my own opinion of course, but I just don’t see Twitter as amazing as I once did.
It’s still a great resource for finding out news since many major news stations like CNN keep a Twitter feed, and I can admit I check it more frequently than I do Facebook. I just feel like it’s about time for a new social media hype. I’ll probably come out of my self-proclaimed tweeting hiatus at some point, but for now it’s nice to see my life in more than 140 characters.
If you were interested to read me rant even more than I do to you Lovelies, feel free to follow me @randinicolexo. I can’t promise much activity as of lately, though!
What do you Lovelies think? Do you think Twitter is as popular as it once was?

Meh. I’ve had a Twitter account for about a year but it’s been hardly used. I’m lucky if I tweet once a month, and I never truly follow anyone’s tweets. It won’t be missed by me if it really dies out haha.

If you are outgrowing twitter don’t worry….it just means you’re growing up.

I still use it on a daily basis, and I’ve had my account for years. It’s like a daily journal for me, a micro blog. I still love it.

@Shadowrunner81@xanga - I wouldn’t say that. I follow a lot of older people on Twitter – it seems to be divided between teenagers/college students and older bloggers.
OP – maybe you’re just following the wrong people?

Well, obviously if you’re looking for celebrities on there, that’s why you’re not happy with it.
I’ve had my account for years and I love it. I have almost 51,000 tweets (in about two years) and almost 1100 followers.
I’ve made really great friends using it and it’s the fastest way to keep up with the news!

I’ve never understood the appeal of Twitter, twitter and facebook are a complete waste of time.

I never signed up for twitter. I’ve had my facebook account since 2006.
I mean I like to know what people are doing to a certain extent, and keeping in touch with friends and family. (I guess following your favorite celebrities is kinda cool.) But I don’t want to know what people are doing every two minutes of their lives. Ugh!
That’s one of the main reason I didn’t sign up for a twitter account. And the whole 140 character limit for a tweet seems lame to me. What if I want to express myself in more than 140 characters?! I never seen the appeal in that, but that’s just my opinion.

Not reading this. My only response: did Twitter actually have any appeal to being with? Only people with no lives need to update the world on their every move every minute of every day. Seriously. Nobody cares that much. I promise.

I have a Twitter account, although I cannot fathom why. I do believe it was out of curiosity, although I cannot see what is so great about it. If I wish someone to see what I have to say, I simply text them. Twitter is simply a tool for attention whores, nothing more.

@Broken_Black_Moon@xanga – Hear, hear. “Oh, please pay attention to me! Please, take the time to go through all Tweets until you see mine! I am important, yes I am!” Look at all the celebs who Tweet. They just love seeing the thousands of followers they have. Makes them feel self-important. “See how important I am? Look at all of my fans, bitch! Who do YOU have?”

I have actual deep theological conversations with people on twitter. But I guess I’m different than the average user.

Never got a Twitter. Got rid of my facebook about a month ago or something.
Done with that crappy nonsense or people who just want attention for doing absolutely nothing.

Sigh, I always seem to get on board when things get “stale”. But the 30+ people I follow still seem to be very active and popular so I dunno..
