Plenty of folks were shocked (OK, maybe mildly surprised) when it was announced yesterday that Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger were getting engaged. After all, only a few people knew of their six-month relationship before the announcement. But, while Nickelback may not be the ultra-popular band it once was, Kroger still seems to have a number of dedicated fans who are heartbroken by his new relationship status. I guess after witnessing the spectacle of Robert Pattinson fans, I should stop being surprised when people get so worked up over a celebrity they don’t know. But I just can’t help it!
