I’m really feeling the slap of reality: I go back to school in a mere two weeks. While I am excited, I feel like I’ve let this summer slip away. Time is a funny little thing, and of course with 13 days to spare I’m realizing I had a lot on my summer bucket list that I have not yet accomplished. Here are a few tips/ideas on how to enjoy your final days of freedom:

1. Get to the beach!

I went to the beach for the first time this summer today and I felt … normal. This summer has been lost without a beach trip and now it feels a little more complete. I suggest making one more trip if you are able to dig your feet in the sand and relax, it’s very therapeutic.

2. Say goodbye to your friends at home

I wasn’t home much this summer, so this step is even more sad for me. It’s that time when everyone goes back to school so you probably won’t see most of these people until Thanksgiving. Get in a good goodbye so you can be sure you feel a bit of closure before they are gone!

3. Work out!

I never can seem to find the time for a good workout once school begins. That’s why I’ve tried to work my butt off through August so I’m at least in good shape for my hectic beginning of the semester. Plus, you will feel healthier and well rested for the school year to begin.

4. Last minute prep for classes

If you are taking any classes that may require extensive skills (languages, math, science) it’s smart to review your last semester’s material beforehand so you will have the information fresh in your mind. I’ve found this makes it much more easy to dive into the new material!

5. Read a book

After I finish cramming for my language placement test which is in exactly six days, I will have a few days to relax and read a book for pleasure before I’m stuck in colonial American literary fun for four months. Fitting in a last minute book is a nice way to unwind before homework piles up.

6. Enjoy the weather!

In NYC it has been a beautiful mid 80 degrees all week, perfect weather for a walk, bike ride, or a dip in the pool. Whatever you prefer, do it! I never seem to have time when it’s daylight out to enjoy the weather when I’m in school, so now is the prime time to do so.

6. Veg out

RELAX. You only have a few more days to, so enjoy them!  Do something you enjoy that you may not be able to do when you are busy in classes and meetings. I always feel overwhelmed once school begins so I’m trying my best to calm myself so I can ensure a good start to my year.

Lovelies, how do you plan to spend your last few weeks of warm weather and sunshine?
