Sometimes when I see cool inventions, I think (as many do) “why didn’t I think of that?!”. These weird inventions from Japan are very cool , but never really took off (cool — yes, necessary or practical — no). Upon looking at these inventions, I didn’t think “why didn’t I think of that?!”, I thought “WTF! Who thinks of that?!”. Seriously though, how weird would you have to walk to wear those umbrella shoes? Here’s an idea… don’t wear shoes that can be ruined in the rain.
Here are some pretty cool, but weird and impractical inventions from Japan that confuse and bewilder me.

Seems to me at some point Japanese inventors were really into head accessories. Wanna keep your hands free all day, but your nose is runny and you need a tissue? Strap that shit to your head and go on about your day.
What do you think about these inventions?

Damn, I needed that face protector for all those times I would “try” to apply lipstick when drunk. Problem is I would have looked like Hannibal Lecter when I forgot to take it off.

I really like the baby mop!

I found the inventions pretty amusing. I rather like the baby mop romper.

These are cute! I love the baby mop romper and the noddle fan! I’d buy those

how the fuck heavy is that swiss army farm tool situation?

Living in Asia, sadly I understand the logic behind all of these inventions. Also, I would kill for the subway hat.

I like the baby mop! That is the only cool AND practical invention here!! Just make sure the chemicals used to mop don’t hurt baby

I have had times when I could have used that umbrella holder.

gotta say, my kid would have rocked the baby mop…..had we had access to it and had he been allowed in the kitchen

I would TOTALLY buy the baby mop.

I liked the lipstick and the baby mop device….the umbrella one would be nice, since I wouldn’t be holding a bulky umbrella, but I don’t like how dorky it looks.

Some of these aren’t that bad… the noodle fan might actually be useful. And the umbrella holder. But I’d probably cut off the handle of my umbrella so it didn’t hang down in my face, and I would use a much thinner headband than the one pictured.
