I’m sure you Lovelies can all read that title and instantly think of an article of clothing that you saw, fell in love with, and decided not to purchase. Of course, then you were continually haunted by the image of this coveted skirt or pair of leggings, wishing you could rush back and pick it up. It’s one of the most sad moments and it happened to me today.
I recently wrote about my overwhelming experience at Forever 21 – it was there where I first spotted it: the dress. It didn’t instantly hit me that I must need it, but it was one of the few items that made the final cut as I waited a good 20 minutes for the dressing room. When I tried it on, I fell in love … almost. The dress looked awesome, except I would have preferred if it was a little looser in the chest area. Big boob problems are such a hassle…
Unfortunately, I didn’t bring an extra size into the dressing room. If I wanted to try it, I would’ve had to get out and wait on the line again. I liked the dress a lot, but I was pretty certain the next size wouldn’t fit quite right so I decided to cut my losses and leave.
Only that decision haunted me for the past week. Since then I have been to two (yes, TWO) other Forever 21′s yet the dress was nowhere to be found. Considering the good amount they had at my first store, it was continually disappointing to spend all the time looking and coming up empty handed at the other two stores.
Finally today I returned to my first Forever to search for the dress … and it was gone. Heartbroken isn’t even the word. I know I can live without the dress, but it’s still sad to think about. I looked on their website, but no such luck. Plus, that website is ridiculously tough to navigate.
I’ll just sit here and live with the regret of the dress that got away. Now I know what Katy Perry was talking about …
Lovelies, have you ever had an item you let pass and still think about? Share your stories!

Not that I can recall. I rarely try things on in the dressing room so that dress would not have gotten away. I would have just gone and got a size bigger and bought it.

Not really, maybe a pair of shoes, but not a piece of clothing. At Forever 21, I probably would have just bought the dress considering the most expensive thing I’ve seen tops out at $40. If it wasn’t quite the right size, I would have just either went and gotten the bigger size and bought it, or if I was feeling a bit of a diva, I’d ask the fitting room attendant to find me the larger garment.

This is exactly why I don’t go shopping alone. My fiance always comes with me, that way if I needed another size I could just ask him to go get me one.
I’ve never had this happen…probably because if I fall in love with something I make sure it comes home with me.

UGH, I totally know the feeling. I went on a road trip with my parents to LA earlier in the summer and we randomly stopped by a Ross and I found these gorgeous hiking shoes that would originally retail for $100+, but was being sold for $30. I carried the shoes with me to the register, was about to buy it, then the total cheapskate in me clicked in and I decided $30 was too expensive for shoes (WTH IS WRONG WITH ME!). So I left them behind. Later that day, I kept trying to convince my parents to return to the Ross to get the shoes, but we were heading out of town early the next morning. SIGH. I will never find those beautiful hiking shoes, in my size, in the perfect periwinkle color, for $30 again…

@PAPER__x__HEART@xanga - Lol. Been there done that sister. Hate it when the inner cheapskate wins.
Nowadays, if I think I like it, I buy it. If I have a change of heart, It’s easier to return than to go back and search for it with (most likely) no success.

Always. It’s the worst. If I can’t have it I have to find a similar one or better one.

it has happened to me. and there are other instances where I liked the item, but then I noticed a makeup stain-usually lipstick, so I don’t buy the item. I could clean it but the sight of the stain already repulsed me, and I don’t want to clean other peoples’ stains. or there was a dress that I really liked and wanted to buy, but when I tried it on, someone else, who previously tried it on, broke the zipper! whoever it was probably really liked the dress and desperately wanted to fit into it, but busted the damn thing, then walked out as if nothing happened
that is disappointing in itself, too:D I could get the zipper fixed but I didn’t want the hassle. I also noticed a noticeable frayed seam right on the dress on the front, so the dress was ruined! likely by a nail accidentally clawing at the fabric when people were looking through the clothes.
