I’ll admit, I have bit of an Oreo problem. For the longest time I didn’t even like the tasty cookies… then something in me switched like a lightbulb. Now I can’t get enough of them. Anything with Oreo’s has become my best friend. That’s why when I saw that Dunkin’ Donuts was doing a promotion with Oreo I was beyond excited.
Through my meal program at NYU, we are able to use our meal swipes and ‘Dining Dollars’ at the Dunkin’ that is conveniently located 2 blocks away. I’ve always loved Coolattas (the Tropicana Orange is heavenly) so when the Vanilla Bean Coolatta with Oreo was released, I rushed to my local Dunkin’ and immediately demanded one (nicely, of course).
I don’t think there are words to describe my immediate affection. I’m not even sure if orgasmic is the correct word. They really are just THAT good. It’s the perfect combination of creamy and Oreo-y (I’ve resorted to making up my own words, clearly). It’s almost like you are drinking the cream center of an Oreo in drink form with little bits of Oreo to garnish it. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?
These delicious treats have become the bain of my existence. I always crave one. They are sugary and fabulous and I can’t seem to get enough. These Coolattas are the reason I have to go to the gym so often, I’m pretty certain. It also doesn’t help that the Dunkin’ is literally two doors down from the gym…
Today, my heart broke into a thousand tiny pieces thanks to this article by College Lifestyles. The article highlights the best and worst things you can order at Dunkin’. So of course the worst drink on the entire high caloric menu is my beloved Oreo Coolatta. At 480 calories for a small this little powerhouse also packs 75 grams of sugar. Well, if that’s not painful to mentally and physically digest than I’m not sure what is.
I knew it was bad for me, but putting it in black and white just makes it all the worse. Ignorance really CAN be bliss. The only plus to this mess is that my meal plan officially ended today so if I want to buy my death by sugar drink, I’ll have to shell out actual cash. The chances of that are slim. I’m always terrible at justifying purchases on sweets (way too much of a guilty conscience). Sigh, such a disappointment…
Lovelies, have you tried the Oreo Coolatta at Dunkin’ Donuts? What are some of your favorite sweet pleasures that are actually horrible for you?

The caramel latte from Panera. The peanut butter mocha (with real peanut butter) from a local coffee place (or if I make it). I really wanted to like Coolattas but they were way too sweet for me.

I have never tried a Coolatta, mostly because there aren’t any Dunkin’ Donuts within driving distance, but there are some calorie-laden treats disguised as beverages I do like. Such the classic smoothies at Jamba Juice, any frozen mocha (or caramel) latte drink from coffee spots or a Coke float. (I don’t like root beer.) Or even just soda–that is pretty bad and I really enjoy them when I have one.

Bahhhh. Kinda wishing i’d seen how many calories were packed into the oreo coolata before I bought one. It wasn’t all it was cracked up to be anyway…. mine at least was just a sugar overload with a hint of oreo : / I’m almost tired of trying Dunkin’s new drinks. The last really good one I had there was during the MIB 3 craze (but then again i’m down for anything that includes dark chocolate) and that was awhile ago. It’s friendlier on your budget and your waistline to just make frozen or iced coffee at home

Do you want me to convince you to stop drinking them with my DD working experience, or would you like to sit in your Oreo bliss?

Oh jeez. See, I didn’t think I wanted to click on this because I didn’t want to know this. I just had one yesterday. The bf and I split a medium one. And an oreo donut.
My. God. Are. They. Awesome.
Both the Coolatta and the donuts.
I don’t care how bad it is… every once in a while it’s okay to splurge a little bit.

@xsPoNgEs_go_SQUISHx13@xanga - i’m scared to find out the answer to this haha, I think finding out the grams of sugar was enough to convince me not to eat them anymore!

@randi - XD that’s good. it’s not too bad anyway, neither the calorie count or what i might have told you, not by my standards (though apparently in college, my standards prove to be embarrassingly low)

that sounds sooo good!!! but drinks are such a waste of calories to me =( so i just stick to drinking green tea and eating a slice of cake of some ice cream instead =)

I’m an oreo fiend too, so thanks for telling me! Now I’m gonna go try one of those the next time I go to Dunkin Donuts!
