My boyfriend and I have decided to stay at his place until we can both save up enough money to get a house. Exciting stuff, right? Well, it’s my first week staying with him and I’m surprised by how much I like it… once I cleaned the bathroom, that is. The only thing I’m not really into is showering at night instead of the morning.
When my hair is clean, I prefer to wear it down, with minimal product. I wear the occasional side-ponytail, to keep it out of my face when the Texas humidity becomes too much, but typically, updos are really just for dirty hair days. I’m looking at this as an opportunity to do a little more with my hair… so far, I love it! These past few weeks have been the best that my hair has ever looked! I don’t know if it’s because the air is so dry that I’m cutting down on heat-styling or what… Anyway, here are a few ideas that I’ve been going with.
In addition to wearing my hair up more often, I’ve also resorted to applying a bit of deep conditioning on the ends of my hair before I put it up, and it’s made quite the difference. Fekkai makes a deep conditioner that I love, but it’s a bit too heavy for during-the-day/public use. If you try it, use it overnight… It’s magical. Loreal’s EverStrong hair repair treatment is the perfect lightweight conditioner for daily use; I just put a little on my ends before I put it up, and it’s perfect! Also, I’ve been seeing sock buns everywhere. I found some pretty great tools over at ASOS. I love them!
Which hairstyle is your favorite? Any updos or new ideas that you’ve tried lately that you care to share?

Since I lost my hair a year ago, it is only pixie length so I can’t do much for updos anymore, but my favorite when I had my long hair was to put it in a ponytail, braid it, then twist the braid tightly until it curled into a bun. It was perfect for when I needed to look put together with little time, or after going swimming because when you take it down the waves were AMAZING. I use Herbal Essence leave in split end protector you can find it for less that $2

it would have been nice to have instructions for these, or at least direct us to a website that has instructions.

@x0_electric_kiss@xanga - So strange, the original post had the sources numbered at the bottom, and now they say “image source” and they seem to all be out of order! A few of the image sources at the bottom of the post do include instructions though.
The second one is my favorite because it is SO easy – simply put your hair in a low, loose ponytail at the nape of your neck, then split your hair in half above the elastic band and pull your ponytail through! I pretty much wear my hair this way about 3 times a week, and I always get compliments.
I found out about it here: http://blog.hairandmakeupbysteph.com/2012/03/ten-ways-to-dress-up-ponytail.html (I believe it’s the 9th image.)
When I’m not wearing my hair like that, I typically have it like the 4th image – I tease my hair and just throw it up in a high bun, and secure any shorter hairs near my neck with a bobby pin or two.
The first image (oddly enough) is the second “image source” listed at the bottom – I found it right here on lovelyish!

Cute! I usually leave my hair down since it’s really thin and limp and so doesn’t style very well so I can’t wait to try these out

@loneshadow_wolf@xanga - My hair is the same way! It’s really thin, but I have a lot of it… I started backcombing it a little, just to get a little more volume. It works really well, but if I backcomb it too much, I start to see a little damage. That’s why I make sure to condition it really well.

I do #2 a lot
Another fun way is to do #2 but insert the hair from underneath and not from the top.
