Maybe it’s because I only see them on television or in magazines, but to me the majority of male celebrities seem pretty tall. I’m talking at least 5’10″, if not a bit taller. This could be due to some secret platforms in their shoes, height-enhancing clothing, or maybe just the fact that the actresses with whom they are photographed are just surprisingly short. Regardless of the reason, I believed male celebrities to be tall, and in some cases I was downright wrong. The truth? Some of Hollywood’s most well-known males are actually tiny!

For example, consider the above photograph of Joel Madden and Nicole Richie. At first I assumed he was at least 5’10″, given that he’s considerably taller than Nicole Richie, who is likely wearing heels. Then I realized that pretty much everyone is a giant compared with Richie, and that her man may not be so tall after all. Madden is only 5’7″! He’s just one of many male stars that appears tall onscreen, but in actuality is shorter than average. Check out the gallery for some more tiny male celebs!
