In attempts to fulfill one of my summer goals, I have been going to the gym religiously over the past two weeks. This has caused me to exhaust my limited workout clothing supply and sadly (yeah, right) have to go shopping. What I am shocked to see is the price of good workout gear.

While I’m sure some of you ladies are lucky enough to be comfortable working out in a baggy t-shirt and sweats, I feel the need to have tight clothes on so nothing is moving around while I’m busting my booty. Now I could just buy a normal tank top, but then there are also moisture wick fabrics to consider or any of the other high tech cotton fabrics Nike and the likes have created. Sadly, those also cost much more.

I walked into Lululemon Athletica for the first time yesterday, and I was appalled at the prices for their clothes. $98 for a pair of yoga pants? Granted, they are a nice pair, but I could get a formal dress for that price. I had to get my mind off of the pants and focus on my main objective: Lululemon’s infamous sports bras. With a pair of 34DD’s, it can be difficult to keep my tatas contained while I’m working out. I usually wear an old bra under a sports bra for added support. Occasionally I even have a tank top with a shelf bra on to keep them really in place.

I found the ta ta tamer II, which seems to keep the girls exactly where I want them. While that is exactly what I want, the price tag ($58) is not. That’s $6 more than I usually spend on one of my fancy Victoria’s Secret bras! And this bra is strictly for working out! I’m still on the fence with purchasing it…

Even with other brands such as Under Armor, products are nearly as expensive if not more than my normal outfits. I want good workout gear, I just don’t quite know if I can justify the price…

Lovelies, how much do you spend on athletic gear (especially good sports bras)? Are Lululemon and brands alike really worth all the hype?
