It’s common knowledge that a model’s life is not always easy. Sure, it has its glamorous moments, but these girls are constantly having their physical appearances scrutinized, and make a living by tip-toeing in the highest of heels down a catwalk approximately ten miles long. Compared to runway modeling, photo shoots sound comparatively less stressful. However, some of them include props and settings that are beyond terrifying!
I don’t know about you Lovelies, but I’ve seen many an episode of America’s Next Top Model, and some of those challenges would have made me sprint away from the camera. Does anyone remember the episode that required the girls to pose in a grave? Count me out! As it turns out, these types of photo shoots are not unique to the popular reality show. The artistic minds of the fashion world have dreamed up photo shoots that are just as absurd as the ones we see on television. While being tall, beautiful, and internationally known sounds fantastic, I think I’ll keep my 5’3″ body and spare myself the horror of posing on the edge of a building.
Don’t these photo shoots look terrifying, Lovelies? Which would you be the most scared to do?

i have some experience in this having been a photog for a while and a model once as a favor because modeling wasn’t what i wanted to do. i’ve also dated several models. a couple of the photographs you posted were likely created mostly in Photoshop. my opinion is some models go through some scary and challenging things. top models not so much and none go through anything more difficult than your average worker. if a model is on the bottom of the food chain it’s pretty much like anyone else being on the bottom of their workplace food chain…do what you’re asked to do or walk. Photoshop and other technologies have changed a lot of what needs to be done to make someone look like they are in a precarious situation. when i studied photography at NYU our class took a field trip to a retouching studio that handled among others Cindy Crawford’s photos. that’s when i learned it was a secret she had 6 or 7 moles on her face during the 80s. there was one guy primarily assigned to getting rid of the moles we never saw on all those cover girl photos. a funny moment was when he told us he had to make sure he had to remember which to leave. at that time he had to do that on the negatives. now it can be done in Photoshop and she’s probably had surgery since. she’s a pretty woman for sure. something to note is there are beautiful people who just don’t look good enough on camera for various reasons and there are some people who look better on camera than on the street. one is Uma Thurman. don’t get me wrong. i like her and i think she’s a beautiful and very nice woman but when i at times saw her in jeans and a t-shirt walking her dog she didn’t look anything like the woman we see on the screen. same with Julia Roberts but Julia lights up the silver screen with her smile and she, like Uma have done wonderful jobs in some of their acting. i admire both of them. i love Notting Hill and Mona Lisa Smile. I love Kill Bill but cameras are fickle and not often fair.

I dont think there’s a dollar amount named yet that you can pay me to pose with a spider…

The maggots… oh gosh I think I just puked in my mouth a little.

@Thatslifekid@xanga - they’re not maggots, they’re silkworms. from an episode of america’s next top model.

I guess these models must be flexible to do whatever.

These are the best kind of shoots. My fav was the snake shoot so when I did a spread in a calendar it was my idea for me to pose with my ball python around my neck. It was a fun shoot.

The spider one aside, I’d love to do those shoots. They look so much fun! But how do you know they didn’t shop the spider or the bugs on afterwards?

@daydreams_nightmares@xanga - i actually watched the episode of america’s next top model where that pic is from. i actually cringed while i watched. i hate spiders!

@Alpha_May@xanga - ohh my god, I couldn’t have watched! Whenever I see huge spiders like that on TV I have to hide behind a pillow, haha.

I’m glad to see so many of you share my opinion that the spider shoot was absolutely terrifying! I couldn’t help but cringe while watching that episode. Eva totally owned that challenge, though. I’m sure I’d be just as terrified posing with a snake, haha. @MissAshley, you’re pretty brave!
@BreeChanel@xanga, thanks for the tip! I’ll have to check that out

I think it was cycle 16 of ANTM where they modeled jewelry, and posed with bees. (It was more of a head shot, than full body shot.) I don’t think I would be able to do that. I’m not allergic to bees, the last thing I would want is getting stung by bees. *shudders*

Ew, spiders and snakes… :/ yucky.

Also just matters what kinda modeling you wanna do. Also some of that looks fun to me.

I like the baby cheetah one!! I couldn’t do anything with snakes or spiders because I’d be freaking out. It would be hard to get a shot where panic wasn’t written all over my face.
