With just a few weeks left of summer, I’m beginning to think about my fall wardrobe. I’m not planning on going on a massive shopping spree, but I definitely want to buy a few cute clothes and fun accessories to dress up my autumn outfits. My style is pretty casual to begin with, so I want to invest in some statement pieces to dress up my typical look. One upcoming trend that has caught my eye is costume jewelry. Before images of too-big earrings and tacky necklaces enter your mind, let me assure you that this trend will not have you running to the nearest Party City!
This fall, designers around the world have been inspired by costume jewelry. However, rather than attaching the jewels to earrings and necklaces, they attach them to dresses, jackets, skirts, and tops. Oscar de la Renta has designed a collection of clothing decorated with photographic prints of oversized diamonds and sapphires, which was inspired by his own jewelry line. Tom Binns, a designer based in New York City, has also created a collection of clothing printed with “faux real” jewelry. Says Binns, “The T-shirt gives the impression of wearing a gorgeous jeweled necklace, applying the charisma and elegance of jewels to cloth.” Basically, you can look chic and stay comfortable at the same time. It’s a win-win!
These jewel-printed fabrics can be worn casually with jeans and flats, or dressed up with a skirt and heels. I can’t wait to try this trend for myself! Check out the gallery if you want to see some more costume jewelry-inspired pieces.
What do you Lovelies this of this trend? Would you buy your own jewel-printed clothing?
