Who knew that waffle irons were such versatile instruments? There’s a whole range of foods that can be made using one, for both breakfast and non-breakfast foods alike, which is super convenient for college students and other people with limited kitchen access. Here are four of my favorite recipes using only a waffle iron.

1. Eggs

Though eggs are typically cooked on a hot, metal surface, it just never would have occurred to me to try using my waffle iron. It’s very simple to do, and tastes just as great!

2. Cookies

Though crispier than oven-baked cookies, these waffle-cookies take merely minutes to make. The recipe itself is simple, and can be toyed with to find the perfect batter for your tastes. Plus, if you’re careful enough, this can be taken out as one giant cookie! Yum!

3. Fries

Though they’re really more like hash browns, these waffle fries are still delicious. Perfect for any meal of the day, and ready-to-go in just minutes. No need for McDonald’s anymore, when you’ve got these!

4. Brownies

There’s nothing better than warm brownies, but it’s hard to get that straight-from-the-oven perfection when brownies generally come from the oven scalding hot. But with these waffle iron brownies, they come out crispy and warm, perfect for any chilly winter night (or summer afternoon spent in the air conditioning). Pour a glass of milk, and you’re all set!
