Who doesn’t love Johnny Depp? He is, without a doubt, one of the most talented and versatile actors in Hollywood. In 1984, Depp made his debut on the big screen in A Nightmare on Elm Street, and has been entertaining audiences ever since. Over the course of his film career he has played quite a variety of characters, and many of his roles require him to make extreme changes to his physical appearance. Let’s check out his many memorable makeovers!

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

From swashbuckling pirate Captain Jack Sparrow to murderous barber Sweeney Todd, Johnny has effectively portrayed many eccentric characters onscreen. As much as he has to change his accent and mannerisms for each role, his characters would not be complete if not for his drastic changes in physical appearance. In the above photo, for example, he rocks a grungy look for his role as teen rebel Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker in the 1990 movie-musical Cry-Baby. Needless to say, he looks almost nothing like he does as creepy factory owner Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or as vampire Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows. The versatility of his face is remarkable; it seems to suit all of the many characters he has played over the course of his film career.

Dark Shadows

Regardless of whichever character he happens to be playing, though, I think we can all agree that there’s no mistaking those chiseled cheekbones and deep brown eyes!
