I wish that body art involved fewer needles. If this was the case, I would be infinitely more likely to get an extra piercing or a small tattoo. I have two holes in one ear and three in the other, and I’m pretty sure that will be the extent of my experimentation with body art. It’s a shame, because as I’ve been seeing recently, some tattoos and piercings can be absolutely adorable without being too outrageous.
You may be thinking, “What a baby! She can’t even handle a needle for a piercing?” Truth be told, I didn’t realize just how much I hated needles until September of 2011. Lounging around on a Saturday morning, a few of my friends and I decided to adventure to a local tattoo parlor. My roommate wanted her nose done, and two of us were going to have our cartilages pierced. My oh-so-brave roommate decided to go first, since I was a bundle of nerves at the mere thought of having a needle go through my ear. For some reason we thought I would feel better if she went first.
We were wrong. She hopped up on the stool and sat still as a statue while the professional jabbed a needle through her nostril. Sure, she didn’t move a muscle, but I had to sit down. She, and the tattoo artist, asked if I was okay (no, not embarrassing). After that I was pretty skeptical about getting my own ear done, but went through with it anyway. While the piercing was virtually painless, I still got dizzy and was forced to lie down. My finest moment? Not really…
Needless to say, I’m pretty sure I won’t be making any more trips to the tattoo parlor. But that doesn’t mean I can’t admire other people’s body art! Check out the gallery for some seriously cool tattoos and piercings that I wish I was brave enough to get.
What do you Lovelies think of body art? Would you have any of these tattoos or piercings done?

I love love love body art. All kinds. Not a huge fan of face tats, but that’s about it.
I wouldn’t get a piercing again, mainly because they don’t like to stay in, but I’ve totally thought of tats and totally plan on getting my first one within the next year.

I absolutely love body art. I’m 19 and I have 9 piercings & 1 tattoo so far.
My piercings are my nose, wrist, both back dimples, tragus & 2 in each ear lobe. I’ve been thinking about getting either my collarbones or nipples pierced next.
I just got my first tattoo a few weeks ago – a large raven on my left shoulder blade/back with some poetry next to it. I am already planning my next one.

I’ve had both sides of my nose pierced but it barely hurt either time, my eye just watered like I plucked an eyebrow hair. I have two tattoos, one on my thigh and one on my forearm. By far the more inside my thigh was the worst pain, I only winced when I had my arm done but my thigh made me shed actual tears. I also have my lobes pierced but have no memory of that pain!
My most recent is a nipple piercing last fall and in all honesty it was not bad at all, it hardly hurt getting it pierced and the only pain I experienced was immediately afterwards or when I accidentally hit it, but taking ibuprofen made all of the pain go away. Not bad at all.

I have my ears and my belly button done(: I like the first picture, I know I want something done to my cartilage ^^ And I want a tree tattooed on my back, with birds flying away from it carrying words from “I carry your heart with me” by ee cummings ^^

I have 7 piercings total – four ear lobe, one rook, one cartilage, and one nipple. I originally had two nipple piercings, but it got infected during a stay in a hospital, and I decided it were best to let it heal in case of MRSA. The worst one was the rook, and that was only because the guy wiggled it as he put it in, which hurt like no other! I would love a nose piercing (can’t decide which kind) and a lip piercing, as well as redoing my other nipple piercing, before I’m done with single needles.

i’ve had my ears, navel and nipples pierced. i took the nipple rings out because my boyfriend didn’t find them attractive. and they usually got in the way AND made my nipples waaaay too sensitive.
i’d love to get more piercings, but i doubt i’ll ever get a tattoo. every time i’ve wanted a tattoo of something in the past, i didn’t want it six months later.

I only have a total of three piercings in my earlobes, one of which I proudly made myself on Monday^^. I don’t want to overdo it, I just want three in each earlobe and perhaps my navel (after losing a ton of weight) and nose. Tattoos are to permanent for me.
But one time I read a womans blog who got her husbands name tattooed on her wrist for their anniversary. That was so cute! If I ever marry I might steal that idea, after all marriage is also supposed to last forever.

I’m absolutely terrified of needles! I have 3 piercings (tongue, bellybutton, and scaffold [across the top of my ear]), I definitely freaked out about the needles with my piercings. With my tongue piercing the guy almost put the needle through my throat because I got scared and moved suddenly. I’ve found that it’s not so scary with tattoos (I have 4), they don’t hurt and it’s not like you actually see a needle, because they’re done with a gun thingy. I don’t think I’ll have any more piercings, but I definitely see more tattoos in my future

@comeonskinnylove_xo@xanga - wow! for someone who’s afraid of needles i didn’t expect you to get any piercings at all. that was brave of you, even if you almost got your throat pierced lol

i got my nose pierced. it really only hurt for a minute, not a second more. just don’t touch/fuss with it while it’s healing and it should be fine/not hurt afterwards.

Actually, I’m terrified of needles as well, but I’m a bit of a body art junkie…
I have my belly button, both nipples, my tongue (pierced twice), belly button, nose, and industrial (a barbell through the top of my ear) pierced. I had my eyebrow, lip (pierced twice, then a vertical piercing) and ears (pierced about sixteen times) done for a bit, but took them out because I fell out of love.
I have a tattoo of a treble clef behind my ear, with music notes going down my neck onto my shoulder blade. I have a piano keyboard tattooed on my left wrist and a stupid cat tattooed on my right forearm. I also have a large angel portrait on my right shoulder, taking up about a quarter of my back.
I think the only painful things were the industrial and my angel tattoo. The rest of the piercings were really fast spurts of pain, followed by numbness, and an easy thing to heal. The tattoos were just annoying, like being slapped on a sunburn. The angel hurt because it goes onto the spine, into my armpit, and into the soft spot below my shoulderblade. Everything else was totally fine.

I’ve got 9 piercings and 4 tats so far….by far, for me at least, the piercing I have in my upper left ear in the cartilage hurt the worst. I guess for me having piercings and tats (for most of them) have marked a significant portion of my life that I have lived through, a rite of passage I guess. The most memorable were my first tat(when I first separated from my ex-husband) and the tat I got after the divorce. My first was my favorite, because of the meaning behind it. ;0)

I have 4 lobe piercings (doubles on both ears) and a cartilage piercing. I think I might be done with piercings for now.

@pretty_inx_plaid@xanga - I had my friend there to hold my hand through all of them. She faints at the sight of blood, so it was a pretty good distraction LOL

I hate needles, and i’m not that great with pain, but it doesn’t stop me.
What’s a few seconds of pain for a potential lifetime of shiny?

the ear cuff with a feather is actually not a piercing you can buy it on etsy, and it just hooks onto your ear :]
