Tumblr is one of those websites that I never really can explain to people. I start blathering on about posts, re-blogging and cats, and then people tend to stop listening. So, really, who knew that an explanation could be condensed into a short musical number?

From gifs to notes to Hipster Ariel, there’s a lot about Tumblr that can’t be explained to a non-user. And while not everything is totally explained in this video, it’s a great compilation of everything that makes Tumblr…well, Tumblr.

YouTube star Hank Green and the folks at AVbyte did a great job with this song— it’s so catchy, I’ve been humming it all day. And between the explanation of how to pronounce “gif” and talking about how “mainstream” everything is, it nails down everything on the website, from hipster blogs to fan sites to artist profiles and on!
