Ouch. The Daily News posted some of USA’s finest in all their Olympic glory… in their ID photos for the London games. It’s safe to say even the best athletes in our country have off days too (note Kerri Walsh in the above picture looking like a deer caught in headlights).
I can admit I haven’t had perfect luck with IDs. My first college ID was taken the day I moved in, and I looked every bit the red blotchy mess I left home as when saying goodbye to my cat. I got to spend an entire year remembering how sad I was to leave home. Plus, I had a pimple on my forehead. Sigh.
I’m sure some of these IDs are great… but that isn’t the case for Olympic vet Michael Phelps. Someone forget to shave?

Well, that’s very expected with athletes…especially if you have only limited time to look your best. But hey, we all know these athletes are well in shape outside of these photos. ;D

What’s wrong with Carmelo’s? There just must be something I don’t see.

He didn’t shave because he’s a swimmer. They shave all their body hair off right before a big swim because it ups their time to be sleeker in the water. If they learn to swim with the hair, it pushes them harder to gain better times with the hair, so when the hair is gone, it’s even better. When you see him compete you will notice that every bit of hair is gone.
And like someone else said, nobody is allowed to smile in these pictures. I’m not sure why Carmelo is.

I see nothing wrong with Carmelo Anthony.
As for Ryan Hall, I feel like he still looks cute. Like it’s a good picture for an ID.
