Do you believe that a young girl’s looks could predetermine whether she will one day be a supermodel? While some young women are born gorgeous and stay that way throughout their lives, others took some time to grow into their own stunning looks. Because we generally only see supermodels when they’re made-up and ready for the runway or red carpet, it’s hard to imagine what they looked like before they began their careers. Continue reading for some pictures of famous models from back in the day!
When I was growing up, I looked extremely awkward in hundreds of photographs throughout middle and high school. Surprisingly, some of today’s most famously beautiful women did as well! Maybe they didn’t look quite as awkward as I did, but they definitely grew into their looks to become the supermodels they are today. Of course, most of the models in these photos are just lucky enough to surpass that awkward stage and take consistently great photographs throughout their lives (Miranda Kerr, I’m looking at you).
Do any of these photographs take you by surprise, Lovelies? Can you see the future model in the “before” photographs?

a lot of these women were pretty/cute even when they were younger…but yeah I’ve seen really pretty girls grow up to be average/ugly, and vice versa

Most of these models look pretty good even very young. I don’t think you can always tell by when they’re young because as they grow up their features become more prominent. Some people don’t age well. Also, I feel the right hair and makeup can transform a woman’s look.

Tyra definitely looked like a super model in her pre-teen/teen picture.

they all looked pretty much the same to me. Some of them had some really bad hair, but that was because they were lucky enough to grow up in the 80s.

cindy crawford is absolutely stunning

No surprise. Let’s not forget the bodies of these girls. They grow up to be six feet tall, skinny, long in the waist, therefore looking amazing on the runway. You can put makeup on anyone’s face and make it look better, but you can’t change the whole body.

@Erika_Steele@xanga - That 80s hair is what I was thinking about too, ha ha. It can frump anyone up a bit.

all these women were pretty attractive younger too…

you don’t necessarily have to have a pretty face to be a model, just super tall, slim, somewhat memorable features and have a super model attitude.

After all they started out with fair or lovely face structures, and they are naturally skinny too.

i still don’t think kate moss is attractive.

Yeah….tyra grew into her looks…naturally. Her nose magically shrunk. She does have the same dumb expression though.

Some of them look they had nose jobs. But I suppose a nose might change? Maybe? I don’t know. I don’t think you need to have the most gorgeous face ever to be a model, just no features that are particularly off-putting. Make up and hair styling can do wonders. Unless you are a face make-up model, other features are more important and less easy to play with beyond photoshop (overall body frame, legs, hands, ect).
