No, the spirit of Dr. Seuss has not unleashed itself on a mission to distort buildings around the world, although I wish it were true and would add myself to the wait-list pronto. This is simply the twisted creation of the Polish architecture firm Szotynscy & Zaleski that they named Krzywy Domek, translated to “Crooked House”.

Let’s take a gander inside of this warped multipurpose structure located in Sopot, Poland that draws inspiration from storybooks and fairy tales!

From the looks of it, I’d hate to be drunk in this building. I feel drunk just looking at it!

Built in 2004, the architects infused the building with the cartoonish flair of artists Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg, both extraordinary illustrators. The structure is three stories high, 4,000 square feet, the home of financial and media industries and now houses a pub called the “Wonky Pub” with outdoor seating. If you’re ever in Poland, I’d say it’s definitely worth a visit. I’d also say it’s best to go easy on the beer…

What do you think of this house? Do you find it fairy tale inspired or just plain wacky?
