Who else was in love with the young and adorable Carmen Cortez in Spy Kids?! I know I was a huge fan of the series and thought she was such an awesome female character. But what acting role has Alexa Vega currently landed?

She’s taken on a more grown up persona in Robert Rodriguez’s new film set to be released in 2013, Machete Kills, where she plays Killjoy, an assassin who works for Sophia Vergara’s character, Madame Desdemona. The synopsis?

According to IMDB:

The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.


Other cast members include Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez, so this film looks pretty celebrity infused. It’s pretty amazing how Alexa has transformed in a matter of a few years, but I think she’s aged well and pulls off provocative pretty well from what I can tell from the movie photos.
