I don’t know about the rest of you Lovelies, but I am very excited for this Sunday’s beginning of the London Olympics. I’m not normally into many sports, but I can’t help myself when it comes to women’s gymnastics. This year’s team is not only talented, but I feel like at my age I can really connect with them because they really are just that: my age. It’s hard to imagine these girls have spent their entire lives training, while I’m busy at school and socializing.
With a life like that, it can make these girls feel a lot more mature and older than they really are. That is, until you view their Twitter or Instagram accounts.
I am so happy I stumbled upon the accounts of all five Olympians: Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney.
Not only is it clear these girls adore one another (note all their adorable Instagram pics of each other cheesing it up for the camera) but they show that they really are just teens like the rest of us. This is not to say they sound immature, it just in a way humanizes these girls and shows they aren’t just prim and proper gymnasts, they are also girls that can enjoy themselves once in awhile as well.
For instance, July 12th was Jordyn Wieber’s birthday, and every girl on the team tweeted at her a sweet message. Here’s one from Aly Raisman:
Tomorrow is @jordyn_wieber birthday!!!!! Happy birthday I’ll be with you the whole day
17 waaaahooo. Get it gurl!
These girls are sweet enough to retweet a lot of their impressive fan base, and seem very down to earth and beyond excited for the Olympics. I will definitely be tracking these accounts leading up to some sweet (hopefully!) victories in London! I can’t help but want to spend hours reading them right now…
Lovelies, have you been tracking any Olympic accounts? What are you most excited for this Sunday?

I think of gymnasts as real girls because of Make It or Break It (fucking awesome show on Netflix, totally recommend if you like gymnastics).
