No offense to you lovely Frenchies, of course. It should go without saying by now that we here in American are envious of your culture in more than a few ways. The Francophile bug has taken hold of us and doesn’t look like it’s planning to leave anytime soon. So imagine our envious disdain upon finding out that as part of an exclusive line in honor of The Amazing Spider-Man for Sephora France, OPI released a new “Black Spotted” top coat that we literally can’t get our hands on.

I only heard of this amazing stuff — that can create effects not unlike velvet… or Lisa Frank! — through an article on the Fashionista, where Cheryl goes on to mention that our only way of getting some of this coveted lacquer is through eBay… and the bottles are selling for upwards of $55! I guess folks are eager to get this oil-on-water look.

And lovelies, it’s been confirmed by OPI — this stuff won’t get a US release. But can someone please snag the recipe and put in on shelves some other way? Essie? Deborah Lippmann? This just isn’t fair.

Are you a nail polish addict? Do you like the water-on-oil effect of OPI’s “Black Spotted” top coat?
