There’s been a Facebook status update circulating the Web since shortly after the tragic events in Aurora, Colorado on Friday night. It was an imploring encouragement to Christian Bale to pay a visit to those wounded in the shooting at the midnight showing of his film Dark Knight Rises. It was a sort of superfluous request in that Christian Bale had no real duty to the victims of the shooting, but it turns out he’s just as super-awesome as I hoped, and he did it anyway. Check out the pictures below.
Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.
Bale said in a previous statement regarding the incident.
Pictured here with survivor Carey Rottman, Bale’s visit is a small gesture that means a lot, and lifts a bit of the shroud of negativity that had consequently tied the new film to the dark memory of the shooting.
Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.

I don’t know how the visit was received across the board, but I personally think it’s cool he fulfilled what could have gone down as a silly status update on Facebook. Good on you, dude.
What do you think about Christian Bale visiting the survivors in Aurora?

I think it is awesome that he did it.

This brings tears to my eyes, he’s amazing. <3

That’s awesome of him to do that. I think regardless of that facebook status, he must have felt some duty to visit the victims- I know if that was me, I would have. I wonder if the other stars will follow suit?

@MomWithoutaMinivan@xanga - Yeah! It was a such a sweet gesture to visit the wounded and the families of victims. I think the Facebook status wasn’t the only thing that led him to visit the people of Aurora, it was an act of kindness and respect on his part.

That was really sweet of him.
What an awesome guy!

That is fantastic. I’m glad to see he didn’t wear his Batman costume like people were suggesting though. That seems kind of iffy to me after what these people went through while watching Batman. I think that would have been triggering more than anything. But really, good for him. I have more respect for him now.

I didn’t share the initial FB request that Bale visit them, thought it was asking a lot I guess, so I blown away to hear and see that he did! So awesome dude! =]

Reason #428 I need to marry Christian Bale

I think it is wonderful that he decided to visit the victims and families. He doesn’t have to–he did this from the good of his own heart. It is a glimmer of hope of humanity in my book.

I know he has had a bad rep in the past, but I’ve always had a lot of respect for Christian Bale. This is one reason that proves why he’s amazing!

I didn’t think he would do it. I’m glad he did. That must have been really great for the victims. That was very wonderful for him to do that.

Good on him, I’m a huge fan, and this definitely helps him in the PR department!

I think it’s cool that he visited them but… I wonder if he would have done that regardless of that Facebook status..

pretty awesome move on his behalf!

This was pretty awesome of him. Big respect. (And I know that some cynic is probably out there on Xanga waiting to spout off about publicity stunts and how nothing an actor does close to the release of a major motion picture is ever sincere. Preemptive “fuck you” to that guy.)

This made my heart happy!
