Sound totally unexciting? I think that’s kind of the point. For all of us out there who have long ago tired of all-in-one mystery drinks promising energy and a buzz — oy, they make for a massive hangover, don’t they? — and whose alcohol tolerance has dropped off dramatically since college (like myself), there’s a new drink called Air (not to be confused with air, naturally) that combines carbonated water and 4% alcohol for a 95 calorie sippable that won’t make you fat or sloppy-drunk in a hurry.

A.I.R. stands for “Alcohol Inspired Refresher” which does sound… refreshing. Any of you ladies out there who always order a vodka-soda at the bar, this drink is designed to taste even less like alcohol than that. It does come in two flavored varieties — citrus and berry — but I’m all for the club soda version. And since it’s so low in alcohol by volume, you can buy it at the grocery store. I can’t say I’m not kind of stoked on this, for the nutritional amnesty of the boozy beverage and for its respectfulness to the drinker. I might not always want a glass of wine, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean I’m going to reach for a Four Loko. Oh yeah, and price: $6.99 for 4, $1.75 apiece.

Lovelies, is this a drink that’s up your alley?
