Ashlee Simpson appeared at a a Samsung event in NYC sporting these hot-red Alice+Olivia shorts and a half-tucked button-down shirt. She completed the look with black heels, black nails, and a matching black clutch.

Now, I love the length of the shorts — leather finally being used for more modest purposes — but there’s something in the fit that seems off. Maybe it’s the baggy shorts paired with the baggy shirt, I don’t know. And the half-in-half-out shirt? I didn’t think anyone did that off the runway.

Still, I think the color combo is fantastic with Ashlee’s complexion, and it is refreshing to see stars wearing leather goods that aren’t skin-tight or ridiculously short.
